So many amazing things happened in my life in 2015, challenges included, but also so many awe-inspiring and troubling things happened in the world reminding me how small of a role I play in the whole puzzle of humanity, yet how important my little piece and my personal pursuit to reach my potential can still be.
Loving the person I'm becoming, the people I'm surrounding myself with and the work I'm doing not only with Localeur, but also as a board member for AIDS Services of Austin and KLRU and here in Austin as a writer and engaged citizen, have played such a huge role in 2015 being a year in which I embraced community, compassion, empathy, grit, introspection, passion, patience, personal growth and understanding to a whole new level.
The combination of experiencing growth in my professional life and being madly in love with Susannah and getting to share so much of my experiences with her definitely shapes my purview as one of optimism and gratitude.
Also, one of the best things I've seen happen in 2015 is that so many of my friends have gotten married (Obi + Mo, Amber & Nikias, countless others), so many of my friends have welcomed children into the world (Adam + April, Thomas + Stephanie, Blake + Jamie, to name a few) and so many of my good friends are expecting in 2016 (Colby + Sarah, Kent + Caren, and plenty others) while many others are finding new love or new lines of work to bring them genuine joy and hope for the future.
We live in challenging and fear-inducing yet interesting and inspiring times, and to have God touching my life and the lives of all the people around me in so many ways is plenty reason to look forward to 2016 as a year of learning, loving and letting go of the things that don't truly matter in order to hold on to the things that do much more tightly. Cheers, 2015, thanks for the experiences, lessons, and opportunities you shared with me. I won't forget you.
